It’s disconcerting to me the volume of ‘filmmakers’ focusing on acquiring equipment versus creating good films. Today I saw great quote in a book that has nothing to do with filmmaking but rephrasing it for filmmaking, it looks like this:

 

For years, I have seen organizations invest substantial amounts of money in video equipment without having any storytelling strategy. It was as if they expected to set this gear running and then wait for it to start churning out high quality films.*
